I have a 1400 and use refillable cartridges from ink express and find them quite good. I had a bit of a rough start with them as I started using them after coming back from a four week vacation but all is ok now. The quality of the images printed are perfect, I can see no difference.

Hope this helps....

I'm afraid I'm reverting to Epson inks, having used the world wide compatibles, and a couple of others.

I made the "mistake" of buying a Colormunki and profiled the R1400 with the compatibles, and its really not very good. You keep getting casts in the shadows, and I never used to when it was new.

There is nothing wrong with the Munkis profiling, because with the R2400 on Epsons own ink, it is absolutely perfect - Photshop manages colours, select the profile and you get exactly on the print what you got on the screen. Fantastic result.

Wish I'd known how expensive the 1400 inks are, especially when it doesn't produce the same sort of shadow detail that the R2400 does.

Anyway, Cartridge people are the cheapest I have found but they don't do a compatible for the 1400.

In the end all the orginals are roughly the same price at 70 a set wherever you buy them. I never will buy refills as what anybody says they are not the same quality.
