"Up to" covers a multitude of sins. As in " passive smoking/drinking/obesity causes UP TO 16 million deaths a year. Could be any figure.

This thread is a bit like 'Grumpy Old Man'... LOL

    'Absolutely!'

Used absolutely everywhere, absolutely all the time. Absolutely !

    'Devastated' - at least until 'Absolutely' took over;

CORRECT - The small coastal town was devastated by the force 12 Hurricane

INCORRECT - Pauline was devastated when the taxi turned up late

    'Buy one get one free'

No! Buy one at full price, buy two at half price each

    '95% fat free'

    For heaven's sake, it's 5% fat !

    57% say 'Keep Hunting'

    T@ss*rs

    Wink

At the supermarket checkout - "Do you need any help packing your bags?" - when all I've got is 3 tennis balls for the dog and a bottle of wine for the wife.

Quote: "Cheap at half the price" What's that about? "Cheap at twice the price" you mean

I don't really understand that. Cheap at half the price is a mildly insulting/cheeky inference that it would be cheap if it was half the price, and thats about what you think its worth. Like an Ipad for example Smile

Along with, "its not cheap, but at least its nasty"

"Absolutely" at the end of a sentence.
"Yeh Yeh Yeh" in answer to something.
    "Think, outside of the box"
    "Blue Sky Thinking"

All of them make me want to spit.

@keith selmes - agreed - that's how I've always thought of "Cheap at half the price" - a cheeky comment that something is overpriced.

My manager does a lot of "Helicoptering" over how best to improve performance and get things done

    Quote: "my bad"

what is that all about ?

Muy bad, Spanish/English combination from american movies= "very bad".

Now misused by d******s to mean "my mistake" or "my fault"

    Estoy muy descontenta con esto.

ROFL (is rofl alright ?) Love that one. He can do some "blue sky thinking" while he's up there.
