    hi guys.

i'm just starting shooting fashion. i love this part of photography and could spend the rest of my live doing it. I've been trying to get a fashion team to work with but with no results. I'm getting annoyed because everyone asks for my "fashion story" and i just dont know what to say.

Could you guys give me a brief description what the fashion story is? sorry for that silly question.

    paul

not sure - it could be an arty name for a styling concept - people seem to love 'concepts' these days. I'm trying to get more fashion work myself but it's a difficult market to crack!

From what I see a fashion story is when you have a series of fashion shots with a particular theme running through them - be it the location, style of clothing, the same model, lighting or indeed all of the above.

I think its basically an editors poncy term for a set of shots!

That is exactly it, Paul. They want to know your concepts - how are you different, what is fresh about you. Have a look at Gry Garness. If you don't know her work, then now is the time to get to know it. She envelopes conceptual fashion work to a 'T' and her portfolio will give you an idea of what people are asking you to outline in your 'fashion story.'

But what is your history in fashion - many fashion photographers started out in other areas of the industry and went onto photography. The industry like them because they understand the lingo and the processes involved.
