    Hello ePZers!

As I am playing with the idea of maybe starting to try and sell my images I have started a Zenfolio and a Facebook page.

I would really appreciate some feedback on both or either.
(If you like my images I would of course be thrilled to get a 'Like' too!)

    http://cookiephotography.zenfolio.com/ https://www.facebook.com/CookiePhotographyGlobal

    Thank you!

black and white gallery has colour shots in it...

can you upload higher res images - at 27inches they look really low res...

    nice theme though

Tell us about yourself on the about page.

Would like to see the names of the lighthouses or where they are located...

I added titles and some info to the lighthouse. (I totally agree there should be more on these images).
I added titles on the Panoramas too.
Do you think all images should have titles? Or some other information? I initially thought about it and then scrapped it - I guess just being lazy.... Blush

What sort of information about me would be interesting or appropriate here.
Totally new to this so not really sure what people would want to know.
    Really appreciate pointers.

No need for titles for photos unless you really want to...

If you can't think of anything to add to the "About" page, just remove it from the menu - as it stands, it looks unfinished... if you hide it, it doesn't Wink

Get "ideas" from other photographer websites... don't copy, but be influenced Wink

There are common themes - portfolilo, about, services, testimonials and contact are common on most photographers websites - well those working in photography

You are a photographer so they should be the first thing people see... not text... no ones interested in what you say, they want to see what you can do Smile

I don't know if its ok for me to comment because I did not start the thread. I like the comment from ade_mcfade. I too have been struggling for the past week now trying to set up a website with "Foliopic" via EPZ. My photography is certainly not anywhere near the quality of the work of photographers on this site. I wondered too about texts etc. when uploading because although British I live in Germany and I have been trying to take some shots and putting descriptions in, in both English and German. It is time consuming and not always correct translations. I have been receiving top guidance from Rick Hanson of EPZ on many queries. However some things are not covered, consequently ade_mcfade your last line is superb. Thanks.

What an interesting point you raise, Patrick.
I am German and after living in UK and US for the past 17 years I am now returning to Germany.
I took the view that English text will suffice as most Germans do speak English and I was hoping by keeping it more about the photography less text is more.
So I have now decided that I will add locations on my 'specialised' catagories, like Lighthouses and Bridges (including some interesting info too), but have no text on the other images.

BUT if you would like help with translating anything let me know. Smile

I have this issue with a polish site I'm doing

she's a translator... needs a site in both languages...

I'm getting the first one right - then looking for either a translator plugin for Wordpress, or just to duplicate the site and let her translate the lot!

Hi Cookie-Monster. Thanks for the offer of translation help. Most of my web pics are quite old but I have decided with my new pics I shall be taking the advice of ade_mcfade and stick to producing good photographs. However with some shots I will be putting in a place name for example Siegen-Weidenau or in the case of birds and insects I shall endeavour to find the Latin names and stick them in. Thanks for your reply and offer of help, I will come back to you in the future.

FOR ade_mcfade. Hi ade, don't know where you are located just now, but with the mcfade bit maybe you should try Edinburgh which has a huge Polish population a lot of the people stayed over in Edinburgh after the 1939-1945 war. Translator plug ins are okay I suppose for normal everyday chat but once you hit the technical button or the scientific and medical buttons the translator plugs become unplugged. Still it is fun trying.
    Thanks to both Gents.

Ewa will translate the whole thing - it's not really an issue - just means we'd need 2 sites, instead of 1 Sad

We have huge numbers of eastern Europeans around Leeds and Bradford now, where I'm based.

    Cheers!
