Wondering if someone could possibly help me.I've got a brand new nex 7. But the camera just seems to av gone haywire.when I turn the camera on I just get a loud clicking noise, and the screen keeps going really bright then dark intermittently.for around 60 seconds.also when in A mode.it won't let me alter the aperture value on the control dial.

Also when I try to alter say the auto focus I can't because it won't let me.a message pops up saying this function is currently unavailable. It's really doing my head in,because the shots I've taken so for with the camera have come out shocking.probably no better than a disposable camera.and that's not an exaggeration.I really need some help on this.

Will it let you do a 'factory reset'? Also, I presume you tried simple things like removing the battery and putting it back in again?

Otherwise it sounds like you may have to send it back to the retailer for replacement....... a "Friday Afternoon" camera, so to speak.

The seller also has a no returns policy.but it was all there.boxed and brand new.I've probably copped for a bad one.just my bloody luck

If it doesn't work then it doesn't matter if the seller has a no returns policy. Tell the seller it's faulty and ask for your money back. If he doesn't agree to do this you should initiate the ebay complaints procedure. It's a real pain to go through and it takes weeks but you should get your money back (and postage nowadays). I've done it a couple of times when sellers have sold me faulty goods and then refused to refund the money or replace it. I've also left them very nasty - but truthful - feedback.

In that case Darren can, I think, raise a dispute.

    Hi Dazza,

There's a few weird set up glitches on the NEX7 - Here's a couple of fixes that have worked for some people: -

Go into the menu system and select 'reset defaults', then switch the camera off and remove battery. Switch it back on, then reset defaults again, then set time and date. (Don't set time and date 1st)

Immediately after you've done that (With the camera switched on) - Take off the lens and put it straight back on (The Camera has to register there's a lens).

Regarding the message " function is currently unavailable" when trying to change autofocus to manual. You're getting this message as you're trying to change to Manual focus when the camera is set to Fully automatic mode (Green icon on the dial) - Switch the Camera mode to one of the manual ones and you'll be able to change the focus mode to manual.

    Hope this helps Smile

    Martin

PS - Most Sony products have a worldwide (Or at least European) Warranty, so if it is actually faulty you should be able to get it repaired.

Have you been in touch with the seller? It may be he got rid of this camera because he had all the problems you are now having.................
