has anybody much experiance on here with the clip on flash extenders for the ex550s, I saw a guy using one for low light surf photography in winter. I see several of the top bird photogrphers are using them to add a few more stops of light to a picture
I want to know if you can buy them here in the uk
I use the Walt Anderson Better Beamer and wouldn't be without it.
Extends the flash range by 2-3 stops and it is not only excellent for adding fill in flash for distant objects, but it also allows you to shoot at slightly smaller apertures than you could without it,the flash recycle times are also reduced with subjects that arn't at the maximum flash range.
One thing to be very aware of is they don't get the nickname 'Better Burner' for nothing.Great care needs to be taken when using them in sunlight as it's very easy for the fresnel lens to magnify the suns rays and burn holes in the front of your flashgun.
The Walt Anderson Better Beamer is certainly one of the most popular brands, particularly with the American wildlife photographers although I believe there is little difference between this brand and the others, such as Kirk,Lepp, etc.
