Im looking for a flashgun to use with for close-up photography but to also to use for some portrait shots. It must have the ability to use as a strobe and unfortunately I cant justify the 580ex. The 2 I am looking at are the Sigma EF530 DG Super & the Canon 430 ex ii. My preference would be the Canon due to compatailty and being able to change settings on the camera, however I have read that this does not have a strobe facility.
Any suggestions
Chris
Get yourself a used 550EX for less than the cost of a 430EX. It has strobe as well.
could I simulate a strobe on the 430EX ii by firing it manually
Perhaps an older sigma model, my Sigma EF500 DG Super is able to fire up to 100hz down to 1/128th power for a count of n flashes.
I used it to get this spinning & swinging garden ornament.
What are you hoping to manually flash in how many different positions without flash unit or subject exposure burn out?
