    Hi,

I've got a shoot to do in two or three weeks time - rowing club awards dinner - that will involve taking pictures of prizewinners and table shots etc.

I'm using a Pentax K-m and it would be handy to have a flashgun. Don't want to buy one but would like to rent for the weekend.

Anyone know where I can rent one? I've looked at Calumet but can't see Pentax P-TTL fit kit although I haven't actually asked them.

    Thanks,

    Quentin

Thats really helpful, I am sure the OP will appretiate your input.

I am not sure of somwhere Quentin will be able to hire from either, but I am sure somebody will.

Not knowing of anywhere I would not have commented in this thread, but as I have, appologies for not knowing of anywhere Quentin, hopefuly someone will.

They don't hire out flashguns, well not last time i checked.

Hmmm Calumet would have been my first stop, probably best to ask them in case they do.

Mind yourself when you get down off that high horse Paul.
Google!! It was meant as a pointer, because a simple search would have done the trick!!

'hire flashgun uk' in Google works a treat for me.

LOL! Did you actually look at any of those results Mike? Other than the two paid for links, the rest are pretty much useless. One of those two links has already been the starting point of the OP, but if you'd bothered your arse to read his post you'd have seen that.

So rather than just relying on that search, he thought he'd ask for help on here...I mean, fancy asking for help/advice on a forum... who'd have thought it...

Since most Camera rental places don't do flashguns, Google seems a fair bet to me.

Or how about a forum full of photographers? Go on Mike, be helpful for once, post something constructive.

The Flash Centre may be worth calling - they seem to rent out all sorts of equipment.

I'm not used to missunderstandings on forum's, pentax one is very friendly.
My suggestion would be to buy a Metz AF36-4P flashgun, it is P-TTL so will work great on the KM. Cost? £69 from Mifsuds.

    Regards

At that price - it's not worth hiring one. Good post Chris

Well, I didn't mean to spark a flame war!

    For the record...

I do know that Google exists, thanks for the pointer. As has been pointed out, I used them (and searched for flashgun hire, rental etc) first before I came here. I found, as has been indicated, Calumet that way.

I don't want to buy a Metz AF36, I am aware of it but SRS, and I agree with them, recommend the Metz 48 since it is USB upgradeable. I like the look of this model with its higher guide number too.

I'll have a look at the suggested sites.

Thanks to those who have helped, sorry if I've upset those who clearly think I need advice how to use the internet. As has also been indicated above, I assumed, correctly as it turned out, that this was a good place for advice.
