A twistlock carbon fibre one I used in the past [reputable not-cheap well known make] was binned after a few years because the conical shims inside kept breaking up. When I asked for replacements the UK distributor had run out of stock quickly and, because it had been discontinued as a model, they wouldn't be making any more.

Fliplock all the way - at least they're adjustable and replaceable

Twistlock for me.
Not used fliplocks since I replaced my first tripod, a Slik, with a Benbo circa 1985 and various Gitzo's since circa 1995.
Wow, lot of opinions..........My confusions are over....Im gonna buy fliplock...for sure..
Never used a twistlock before, but always though they were better.
I'll contine with fliplocks with my next tripod after reading this
