Focus issue with 18-270mm and Nikon D5300

7 Apr 2014 6:03AM
I bought a used Tamron 18-270mm and have a problem with it focusing on my Nikon D5300.
I don't think it's a PZD lens, but not sure.

When zoomed past about 150mm it hunts for 10 seconds or so before it can lock the focus.
This happens both indoors and outdoors in both bright light and in shade.
In the same conditions, with the exact same focus point, my nikkor 55-300 takes less than a second to focus.
This happens with VC both on and off.

I also tried it on a friends D5200 - same problem
Then tried it on another friends a D200 - it focuses perfectly.
The seller assures me it worked ok on their D90

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Does this sound like a calibration issue, or a firmware compatibility issue.

Thanks in advance
David
