Hello,
I am new into photography, and I would like to know how to change the focus on an object when it is zoomed up to it, so the image does not come out blurry.
Also on some images they just set the focus on a flower for example and it focuses on it, and everything comes out blurry behind it, the flower being the main attraction.
Please, if you can help me do these two things it will be very grateful.
I use a FujiFilm FinePix S1000 fd
1) Re-focus on the zoomed-in subject, by releasing the shutter button and re-pressing halfway again before finally fully pressing the shutter button to take the picture.
2) Use the aperture priority mode, choose a large f-stop (small f-number like f2.8 rather than f8) and focus carefully on the item you want dead sharp. Also use the longest focal length of your zoom that will frame the picture you want. These two actions will give you the smallest depth of field possible with your camera, i.e. the blurry background effect that you want.
Hope this helps,
jas

Yes, it is thank you. I realized how to do it now, thank you so much for your help.
