The tolls were removed this morning at 7.30am, it is now free to travel across the infamous Skye Bridge!

    Well done the Scottish executive

The real classy way to get to Skye is via the small 4 car ferry, you turn off the main road about 5 miles before Localsh and it takes you there, it lands in Armadale, theres a picture in my portfolio.

Sorry, it actually lands at Kylerhea. The main RO RO ferry lands at Armadale.

Agreed robob - Glenelg to Kylerhea is an experience, especially if the tide is running at full strength through Kyle Rhea!

I did get a bit worried when the ferry engines started to get louder and the little man climbed down into the engine compartment. It was september when we were there and the sea was cutting up a bit.

    Prefer the ferry myself.

I used to cross using the old ferry at Kyle and watched the bridge going up. The bridge, while more convenient, certainly had no character. Good news, especially for the locals. Now all they need to do is put the old ferry back.

    "Speed bonnie boat..." etc.
