Having recently purchased the same camera Michael, I'm interested in your comments about you going through "large amounts of batteries".
What type of batteries are you using over what period of time and how many shots are you taking?
If I was going out for an afternoon's shoot, would I need to take along a shopping trollies worth of batteries?
Hi Toymaker,
I use Hahnel 1800 NiMh AA Standard rechargables. Which will last for a couple of days intensive shooting, approx 250 shots. When they run out I use Durracel M3's. Lately though the weather has been v.cold hence the batteries running out quicker. If I could get hold of a power pack then this should last for quite a while hence the query.
I believe Ansmann supply one which will fit the 602 although I am still thinking of getting a 602 myself so I have not tried it. Look at Warehouse express website they sell them
Question for Michael and Toymaker.
I have a Fuji 2800z at the moment, from someone who has owned a 602 do you think it is worth upgrading to one? I have been thinking of doing do for the past few weeks and from the reports I have read it looks a good camera.
Alex
A lot depends on how much it would cost to upgrade to the 602 and whether you think the difference is worth it.
When I bought my camera in December 2002, I did consider the Fuji 2800z but was put off by two things. The 'shiny' body and the fact it was only a 2 megapixel camera.
I'd probably get over the shiny body - eventually but I thought the 2 megapixel limit was a bit limiting. But it depends on the type of stuff you want to shoot. I've also used an Olympus auto-everything, which is a 2.1 megapixel, and have printed stuff off at A4 size with no problems.
The thing that finally drew me to the 602 was the fact it was fully auto, fully manual and all flavors in between. It also has the interpolation feature turning 3 megapixel shots into 6 megapixels and it looks and feels great. I considered it has enough features for me to "grow into".
Having said all that. I'm not struck on the 'electric' viewfinder and find it irritating, but I'll hopefully grow into once I've been on a few shoots.
Thanks both, my only problem now is convincing my partner as she thinks the photos I take with the 2800 are great. I have a Canon 900s by the way which prints A4 photos from the taken with the 2800 camera really well.
By the way Michael did you have a look at the Ansmann power pack at Warehouse express?
Alex
Hi Toymaker Ihave just upgraded from Fuji 2800z to 602z because it will be nearly as capable as my beloved Canon A1 slr.which I've used since it was first released (circa 70's I think) I compared the 602 against the Canon G3 and Nikon 5700. In my opinion 602 with all the features it has incl. the better price was by far the better buy.I much prefer using NiMH batteries as against camcorder-type . We don't have the cold weather problem down here. What really annoys me is that the"experts" tell me my Canon and lenses etc are worth next to nothing-still I suppose that's technology advancing!!!
