Probably a daft question this but just want to make sure...
...I'm assuming that my s5500 will happily take a 1Gb card. It's just that I've been looking at the manual tonight and all it mentions is 16Mb - 512Mb as far as memory is concerned.
Now this is, no doubt, purely down to when the manual was written but I just wanted to confirm it with other s5500 owners...don't want to go buying 1gig card that won't work - even though I fail to see how that would be the case..
Cheers
Mark
Is it a "M" card?
If so, then I think that the S5500 is compatible. I think that these aren't really 1GB, but use a built-in data compression to make it appear so.
No problem Mark.
According to an Olympus press release:
Quote: The M-XD1GM Type M-series xD-Picture Card uses the latest high-capacity storage technology (based on the Multi-Level Cell (MLC*)) to pack 1GB of memory on to an ultra-compact media card ...
* MLC is a technology for expanding memory capacity.
The card is slower than normal XD cards; 4MBs read, 2.5MBs write (as opposed to 5MBs read, 3MBs write).
I am looking to buy the fuji 5100. And as yourself when spending money I get nervous. Does the 1gig XD work? I want to go on vacations and do movies and buy extra memory.
Found an answer with New Egg and price 80 dollars.

Another Newegg Bargain!
I mated this to a Fuji 5 megapixel camera, and it works. Wonderfully. Cheaply. A gigabyte of pictures is a LOT of pictures. You can stop worrying about memory with a gig. That ought to be plenty to ta...
Hi everyone (first post)
I've just got a "M" 1GB xD for my Fuji s7000 and it works fine so I think it should be fine with the s5500
I got it from here : http://www.mx2.co.uk/
Some Olympus cameras have a panoramic facility, but only when using Olympus branded cards. This doesn't apply to Fuji cameras or cards. You can use either cards in either camera though.
