The Fuji 9500S (or in USA the 9000S) will be launched in August and as yet the price is unknown, that too will be announced nearet the launch date.

If you get the new Argos catalogue, its in there priced!.

I wonder if it shows up at the Argos online?
    Off to see.
    Merl

It shows up at 499.99 but out of stock, can't be in stock as I was told by Fuji.

Should be out sometime this month, but as yet no price, from Fuji.

I shall await and see, could be bye bye 300D.

Just took a look at the Argos online and yes there it is at 499.99 but they do not have any yet, not really suprising. I also looked at pixmania, 7dayshop, dealtime, pricegrabber etc. Non of these places have a mention nor do other leading camera dealers or anyone in the USA, so how do Argos get in on the act before its even been launched. Leading catalogue store may have something to do with it one assumes. If its as good, or should be better than the 7000S, then it will be a great camera and if we all wait about six months then the price will drop considerably, by then the fanatics will have pulled it to pieces, the anoraks will have worn it out and us mere mortals will march in and buy one and be highly satisfied.

I'll await and see how much it drops by, and also check the Electronic viewfinder for quickness, hopefully Jessops get it in soon!

Will keep an eye out everywhere

Why all the excitement, its not even been tested yet.

I think its in trouble already. Here is why

More pixels = greater ability to resolve lens errors
    = even smaller pixels
Even smaller pixels = higher noise

No IS it uses higher ISO = higher noise

Large zoom range lens = large compromise

The existing S7000 lens is ok but no class leader. extend that further?

It still has an EVF. I like the idea of the back LCD at times but not to the EVF.

Its price is too high for what it is.

Fuji should have taken the chance to keep the number of pixels the same and cut the noise and spent the budget on decent IS. Take a look at what Nikon and Canon offer.

Now honestly if you are buying a compact how many pixels do you need, 6mp must be enough. Given the level of noise the S7000 produces noise reduction must have been a priority. So add IS so you can keep the ISO low and use technology to give lower noise from the same number of pixels.

Sorry but it sounds like a Lemon on paper. Try a Canon S2 perhaps. Or a Panasonic.

What "noise" on the S7000????? Not noticed ANY noise at all on mine in the year or so I have had it (with lots of use as well with numerous different settings).. plus I would NEVER buy a camera that uses purely SD flash cards (like the S2 or the Panasonic range) as they are liable to fail easier than CF or other types. Had numerous SD cards fail which have had hardly any use (from own brand through to Integral, Lexar, Kingston & Sandisk) and have now given up with them on my PDA I use for SatNav, & use CFII cards in the piggybacked extended battery instead (not had a single one fail or corrupt as of yet in the past 12 months).

I was going to purchase a D50 until it was pointed out to me that it took purely SD media, so going to wait and have a look at the S9000 before deciding on either the S9000 or a D70S/D100.

The underlying electronics used to make the flash cards are similar. I doubt that reliability of the types of cards are different. with that failure rate I would look at a fault with your PDA.

The noise is there in every camera. you can even see it on the S7000 LCD screen if you set the high ISO and zoom in.

Here is a review of the S7000 and look at the actual size photo's. The noise in the neck of the lady standing outside is plain to see.

You talk about noise the Panasonic is horrendous in that department - I'm still holding my sides laughing at that one.
I had a Panasonic FZ20 - I have a Fuji S7000, it's not noisy at all, it's abrilliant camera and I look forward to Fuji setting the standards YET AGAIN.

The 602 set the standard as a ground breaking camera, at a for the time, good price. Not tried the panasonic, but I have the s2 and the S7000 and I find both noisy. The s2 sound to be about 150 lower in cost, even including IS.

sorry but I stand by my comment that the s7000 I have used was noisy

for 500 I would sugest an entrly level dSLR. There are plenty to pick from these days.

But noone's asking you what you would suggest strawman, the thread was started to ask details about the Fuji.

500 wouldn't get you a lot with a dslr anyway.

Lets just see what the new Fuji is like before forming an opinion.
