Have a look at this Now does that not look and sound like a gorgeous camera, the real digital Olympus PEN has just walked into the room. Key features, well the hybrid viewfinder offering an optical or electronic finder sounds good. It just has that I want one look about it. Do I need it no, would a fixed focal length be a compromise, perhaps, but I think in terms of viewfinder design it shows what the larger compact sensors have missed, the viewfinder.
But I bet it costs a lot :-(
those controls look logical and well thought out. I wonder how Leica feel, this looks like the product to challenge the X1 hard.
The shame is it lacks a changeable lens mount. It does not need zooms, but some pocket sized lenses, say @ 15mm F2.8 to compliment the 23mm f2 one then a 35mm and perhaps a 100mm macro/telephoto.
What a stunning camera!
Looks like Fuji have an instant "classic" on their hands - thanks for the info strawman
I have to say, this is the compact I've been waiting an age for... Key feature for me is the fast, fixed 35mm lens and it's 5fps frame rate. I'll never need that frame rate but it's indicative of a fast handling camera.
Providing it's at the right price I'm having one.
Very, very tempting. What a fabulous looking camera - very reminiscent of some of the Leicas too. Come on Will - Review please.

The real digital PEN is the Olympus 4/3 SLR range. Remember that the last PENs were half-frame SLRs (18mm X 24mm sensor). They were good cameras.
I thought the pens were APS frame size
anyway this camera (on paper) fixes the biggest problem with the Olympus m4/3 offerings, the viewfinder and it may well have a better lens than the 17mm m4/3 lens. I know you can get a stick on EVF but its extra and an ungainly solution, this gives the promise of an intelligent compromise between an EVF for a modern digital camera and the benefits many of us know and love of an optical viewfinder. And add on EVF, well I would be worried about breaking it as by its nature it is a camera to stuff in coat pockets etc.
Plus its better looking. A nice bonus, I mean look at that top panel it has a shutter speed dial and round the lens is an aperture ring and here is an exposure compensation dial as well and what looks like a focusing ring on the lens.
It looks like someone at long last has asked what do photographers who want a compact (compared to many cameras it is) do and control and lets put them in an obvious place. OK its a bit retro, but then I think it will work. Can I be first in line to do the EPZ test????
Please say it will sell for under £400
Just signed up for their update service. This is very tempting camera...
Looks like a classic rangefinder camera, with classic controls too. Now if they had made this using an interchangable lens solution, and planned a series of primes... bingo.
Sell for under £400? Nah... that's got "premium" written all over it! Closer to a grand me thinks.
Nice but niche!
Retro jewellery for photographers? The non-changeable fixed focal lens will limit interest, methinks. As will the likely price!
I agree with Cathal - with interchangeable lenses, this could have been of much wider interest...... whatever the price.
Well, thanks to their links with Hasselblad, and their own medium format systems, we know just how good their optics can be. If they did an "M9", and made it affordable, then it could be bye bye Leica. Last I heard Leica were struggling to meet demand for the M9, so imagine how the market would react if the price were sensible...

A fixed lens, for me the only limiting factor would be my budget for memory cards ![]()
Leica a side, this is easily the best offering in digital format for the street, the lens is equivalent to around 40mm and just perfect.
