I cannot get Raws from camera to computer........

From the explaination below you will see I am a complete novice (thicko)......
I am using the disc supplied with the 7D....it contains 4 things
    EOS
    Digital Photo Pro
    Picture Style Editor
    image Browse ex.

    So far I....
Connected camera to computer and an EOS box came up.
I clicked download and it asked me to name it - I called it Canon (number).
It started downloading and then finished.
No idea where the files had gone ...clicked on DPP and its blank.
Found them in My Pics along with all the JPeg files I had done earlier.
Clicked on Canon (number) and it's just a load of empty files.

    Thanks
    Keith

Better if you don't connect your camera to the computer. Invest in one of these. You can then drag and drop the RAW files from the card reader to anywhere you want on your computer.

Install DPP and open whichever RAW files you've downloaded.

There should be a Canon catalogue program on the disc. After you download the files into it, there is a prompt that says something like Edit Photos, with a choice of programs which should include DPP. Choose it, and the RAW file will open in DPP. You then open the tool bar from the DPP menus up top.

Much better to get a card reader and they're easy to use and cheap.

Here's an idea of what they are like:

thanks everyone for your replies...I have been using that card reader Franken....to do my Olympus downloads as the usb port is broken but it is really slow.

The problem was not the downloading but all that follows.....and now hopefully it is solved ...my SON has dropped by to sort me out - again.
All I needed to do was identify where they were and how to get them into DPP from my pics.

    Thanks again...
    Keith
