    The search begins . . .

I'm looking for the greenest car available for less than 10k.

It has to have a range of 60 miles (electric is an option).

    Needs to have 4 seats.

And be as green as possible.

Nothing else matters . . . I don't care about cool or fast.

I've already started the search and so far come up with the Toyota Aygo with 109 g/km of C02 but sure there's got to be something better out there. The only electric car I've found is the g-wiz but it doesn't have the range I need.

    Thanks in advance,

    Edward

    Less than 10K??????

15K would have got you a Civic IMA with a hybrid petrol/electric engine

the Corsa 1.3 CDTI 16V Life gets over 60mpg which is good even for diesel.

    ALTHOUGH...what about a Citroen C2 1.4 sensodrive thingy

How about this? And you could do deliveries as well.

I guess less than 10k is a bit ambitious. I had hoped with climate change constantly in the news, green cars were getting competitive. I know it's new technology, but there's an unrealistic premium on going green that puts so many off.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Having trawled all the main 'what car' sites, it's so depressing that none have any mention of environmental impact. They list things like rear kneeroom but not C02 emission.

    Took me ages to find any C02 data on the C2 thingy . . . 141 g/km

Pity about the need for 4 seats otherwise I'm sure you love to be seen in one of these!

If it had a range of 60 miles and 4 doors and didn't cost $24,500, then yes. I have no problem with that - do you?

    Or a second-hand Toyota Prius perhaps: 104g/km.

Am I right in thinking that safety does not figure very highly in the green camp?
Surely personal safety and the safety of one's children is every bit as important as saving the planet.

Depends who your electricity supplier is. I've already switched to a green supplier and hope to have solar panels installed soon. And the 'well-to-wheel' emission of an electric car is still only 25g/km.
