A little bit of self trumpet blowing today, apologies in advance.
I picked up an e-mail today from the Andover Based Hawk Conservancy Trust to inform me that I had won their 2008 Photographer of the year award with an image of a Short Eared Owl in the Wild on the Isle of Mull.
My shot was chosen as the winer by TV presenter Chris Packham who is a trustee of the charity and judged the competition
I know it's not a major competition but I am feeling very pleased with myself today.
My prize includes a photographic day at the Trust, and my choice of a UK workshop with Wild-arena.
Now how do I persuade my wife I need to upgrade from my trusty, if slightly battered, Nikon D50 if I win things like this.
Thanks for listening.
Phil
Congratulations!
Very well done, Phil. I know I would be over the moon if I won anything.

How about showing her some of the prizes in the bigger competitions which you have no chance of winning unless you upgrade your rusty, battered Nokon D50 ![]()
Brilliant Phil. The work you have displayed on here is excellent and you deserve to be proud of this achievement
Congratulations, hopefully the first of many.
David
