Has any one been here
Thinking of a visit and wondered if any one had any experience.
Where to park, best way to get in, etc
Thanks Geoff

Ah, cricket lovers.
Slightly off subject I know but does anybody from the Bristol area know if the Derelict Hortham Hospital is still standing or has it been built over? I checked Google Earth and it shows the derelict buildings still in situ. After reading this thread thought I'd try Hortham if the buildings were still standing.
Nick
sorry to but in but you mentioned google earth, has anyone tried wikimapia... looks alot better on the surface than google??
I spent all of the 70's in there.....Haaaa......ha..ha...haaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Thanks for the link Geoff - what an interesting and chilling set of photographs. Glad to have seen those
I think she's interpreted that kind of place extremely well as well as echoing the fears and prejudices Victorian and later society had and has towards mental illness.
Quote: Have you tried to look for info on link
Will have a look
Thanks
Geoff

No, you just think you did.
I used to live in a farmhouse, which my mum was convinced was haunted, at the bottom of the road from the hospital. However I was only 3 at the time so can't really remember anything about the place. Strange thing is we then moved to a village called Powick near Worcester which also had a large Victorian mental hospital. Have since moved many times nowhere near any mental institutions.
