I wish to join a camera club in Bedfordshire but don't know which one. I have sent emails to a couple and hope to get replies but wondered if anyone lives here and could recommend anywhere. I have been involved with photography for some years now, but being retired for a couple of years I can now concentrate on a great hobby. I have the Canon EOS 60D with Tamron f2.8 28-75mm lens as a walkabout combo plus a EOS 1000D as spare, with Canon EFS 55-250mm and Tamron 10-24mm lenses as alternatives. I would love to hear from anyone in my area of Mid Beds and indeed any other interested parties.
Thanks in anticipation.

Google "camera clubs in Bedfordshire" or something similar to get a list of all the local clubs then check their websites.
Start with your nearest one, find out when they meet & go along to the next meeting. Get a current syllabus & see if their program is of interest to you. Different clubs have different emphases on aspects of photography so pick whichever most closely matches your needs.
Most camera clubs welcome visitors. Go along to several of the most local ones to get a feel for what they are about.
ePZ has a diectory of clubs
There's our lot just over the border in Milton Keynes, meet in Newport Pagnell, all welcome

Yes thanks but I already did that and found very little info about the clubs. i.e. when best time to join and what cost. I have already been to one club nearby but decided that I didn't like the way they seemed to prioritise the interval tea and biscuits rota more than photography!
Ah, but that's the most important part of the evening, especially if there are jammy dodgers.
Many clubs finish their seasons round about this time of the year starting up again in September, so you'll have a bit of time to look them up before doing a bit of "comparison shopping".
Ours was changed around this year and we have our break over the winter. Seemed to work well, but we will have to see how it goes with numbers over the summer.
Both my local one's in middlesex were very bad at emailing back, but just turning up with a camera was fine - i've just joined the Laleham Camera Club and after initially thinking yeah - "what am i going to learn" am actually learning and practising shots i'd not have other wise tried and then am able to try new shots with these ideas outside.
p.s. although my club does not list in the ePhotozine directories - many others do - look under directories or click here http://www.ephotozine.com/directories/category/photography-clubs-or-societies-48
Where abouts in Bedfordshire are you based? Not a camera club as such, but I am always up for a bit of landscaping one evening.

I'm in Flitwick. I am up for a shoot anytime.
