I need to take a new direction in my photography but not sure which way to go. You see I'm lost with what I'm currently doing. I need a new challenge, a fresh opening but have a decision to make:

Should I go out the house and turn left?

Should I go out the house and turn right?

    Or should I head upstairs?

    Help.............

The only way; get off your butt and get out there, it'll come to you if you spend enough time looking.

What about still life - as you don't have any in your folio... like Mapplethorpe's flowers? -- not his 'deflowering' pics unless you want to of course Wink

Or pick a genre that you don't do, or dont like, and try and make it work.

Failing that 1st left, 2nd right, 3rd right and 2nd left...

As long as you are heading on the right heading, the actual direction will have little bearing, it's a matter of degrees really. Do you feel pushed or drawn? If it's either of these I'd head upstairs for a lie down.

This is a difficult question and one that a photographer faces quite frequently I should think.

A lot of it depends on what equipment you have and whether you are left or right-handed. As for going upstairs, you might need to be a bit more specific. For example, would you being going upstairs and to the right? I guess it would be.

Don't forget to take into consideration the type of sound the wind makes in your area.

    Hope that helps.

I like Marks idea of coming completely out of your or ones comfort zone to photograph something that you perhaps don't like, could give a real fresh feel to whatever you try.
What are you lost with in particular?

Perhaps you've ODed on landscapes. You could try exploring the city.
