Seriously, my CD drawer keeps opening and closing by itself, while it does this sometimes the computer seems to lock up. Been happening for the past few days.
Zone alarm hasn't found anything.

I'm not a computer techy, I can use software but the PC itself is a black art to me.

Can anyone help me.........Please

PC is nearly 6 years old
I have tried to look for answers on the world wide webby but everything keeps stopping !
Has taken me half hour to get this far.

.

Zone Alarm is opening it up looking for an infected disc - damn clever these virus checkers.

Sorry Mark - had to pop out...

I have a similar situation that occurs after I've been burning media using Nero. What burning software are you using? If it's possible, try de-installing the CD burning software and see if the symptom continues. If it does, then it may be a driver problem. If the problem goes away, then see what happens after re-installing the CD burning software.

( Where's Vince when you need 'im!! Wink )

I was reading one of the AV sites (think it was Kaspersky) and it said this was a common symptom of a virus. Is your AV software up todate?

You said it yourself - it's a poltergeist.

Live with it.

Sorry had to abandon the machine last night and go and do "family"!

AV fully up to date, machine clean.

Off out again this morning. When I get a chance I will de-install the CD burning software as per your suggestion Mike. And it is Nero I use.

Oh there you go, CD drawer just started opening and closing by itself. PC has been on for an hour, I've been online 2 minutes - do you think its related?

Thanks
