Have emailed nikon, hoping they will get back to me first thing!

Surely the mount is the most robust part of the lens isn't it? In what way is it damaged? Is the rest of the lens OK? Bad luck anyway & hope you get it fixed.

In the meantime you could contact lensesforhire and start thinking about hiring one. I found their service to be excellent and very quick.

Have broken a lug and a bit off, was on camera at the time, camera is fine and fully functioning, but lens broke off, damaging the mount on it.

You know, it might still be usable! I know it sounds daft, but it's possible. Years ago with a film SLR I regularly held the lens back-to-front onto the body for macro work!

To be honest the mount carries all the electrics from the camera to the lens...how they speak to each other

so unless you know a bloke who has a distinct whiff of soldering iron smoke about him and a wiring diagram for said lens....Id hire one quick if you need it by fridayWink

Have checked that out already, mount has one cable in it, attached by screw and spring, but equally know numerous soldering genius. First thing i did was find out if it was replaceable and how to do itSmile

Fair Play....Research has Been Done....If you cant find a mount super quick then pop into local camera shop and trial lens in the dark corners of shop and remove mount from new lens swiftly and replace your one....20 secs max and your sortedTongue
