I am a caver/potholer so the conditions where i go are not the greatest, I own an Olympus 1030sw camera which use xd memory cards or an adapter which takes a micro sd card.
Olympus are unwilling to tell me if there is a 4 or 8 gig xd m+ memory card in the making and since i take videos in strange places the 2 gig xd m+ card will not record for long enough. The micro sd card adapter will take an 8 gig sd card and the camera shows recording time of over 1 hour but as soon as you start recording it drops to 10 seconds (this i believe is the recording time internally in the camera and then fires it over to the memory card) so this is no good for me. The sd card is MENT to be fully compatible going by the Olympus site but obviously this is not the case as i believe the transferal rate is too slow, my question is has anyone any ideas when Olympus or any memory card manufacturer is going to make a 4 or 8 gig M+ xd card ?. OR a 4 or 8 gig micro sd card with the same specs as a 2 gig xd card.
If i find out that the max card is a 2 gig memory card in XD M+ then i feel that i have been robbed as i went by the information on OLYMPUS'S website before purchasing the camera. Please can anyone help with the above nightmare i have.....nick please email me at nick91longley@hotmail.com thanks again.....

I have an Olympus dSLR and, frustratingly, to use certain features you need an Olympus branded Xd card installed. (It takes Compact Flash and Xd). I don't have any interested in purchasing Xd cards and fortunately the panoramic feature is not one I use anyhow (I stitch on the computer instead).

Olympus and Fuji are the only people to use Xd, and Olympus signed up to use it for a few years which, I believe, is now at an end. Xd was one of those technologies that nobody really needed, and I wouldn't expect anything beyond 2Gb, simply because the market share it enjoys is not great. It is absent from the E-P1 which Olympus launched recently, so looks like they are thankfully turning away from it too.

None of which helps you I am afraid. I'd try some of the Olympus dedicated sites (e system user group, four thirds user, etc) where you may find people who have faced a similar problem.
