    Hi to all at EPZ.

The other day I was looking through the DPZ Gallery, selecting images, commenting and voting on my particular favourites. Anyway I came across one from Carol G, and in her pre-narrative, she mentioned that she would be saying goodbye very soon to a house which she had been in for many years in Greece, because of the current financial situation in Greece, Carol had to pay 3,000 Euros are her home would be taken away from her. She was clearly desperate to raise the money. So I decided to start a find raising campaign in order to help one our most popular EPZ members oy. Several people gave already come forwards. If you wish to help Carol out, please see details below.

    Regards Nathan

Hi Nathan I cannot believe how kind you and other people are being to me, what can I say?
    {Bank details removed}

I really am most grateful for what you have done/are doing to try to get me out of this awful situation. I do not know exactly how much more time I have, but I have been led to believe that 24th May could be the cut-off date.

    Carol.

yeah good luck with that, it was all i could do to get anyone to donate a few quid for a member on here who's son's bike had been stolen.

Nice idea idea but rather stupid to put the bank details in open public view - non members can read this.

Mike, any one can read my bank details.
What do you risk? Receiving money? Not bad, ?

I have already written to carol, we need her Greek bank detail, why do two conversions, from euro to GNP and then back and loose another two days?
    Better pay direct to Greece.
    Also the info is incomplete.
Without the complete IBAN we can't do anything.

Although Mike thinks I am somewhat stupid, that's fine, however all I am trying to offer with the support of members from EPZ is a little help.

    Regards Nathan

    I said Nathan...

    Sorry folks,
    but the site T&Cs say:

3b. The active promotion of charity, fundraising or business events in the forums cannot ordinarily be allowed. Where members aim to run an event that will involve asking participants for money or copyright release it should be noted that you must first contact the site before starting a forum thread, any forum threads started without consent will be deleted.

So the thread will be locked.

The reason we have the T&C is that if allow that sort of activity we will soon be inundated with threads from members for money to pay for the cat's vet fee, the car repair, house water leak, tax bill, etc etc. We all know someone with needs, and some are very sad situations, but the T&C is in for fairness.

Also on another security point. How do we know who has a genuine need. We could get scammers join become "friends" and then make up some story and rip people off. That has happened in the past through classifieds.

While we are sympathetic to situations like the OPs and to the stolen bike, avoiding requests for cash at least protects members from certain scams that are common place through the internet
