i dont know if anyone on epz has heard of a "Holga" camare before, which takes 120m film and is plastic and looks just like a toy...well I am not sure it wasnt a toy.
It has a sort of a obsessuve following now and my Son bought me one for my birthday.
They say in the book that comes with it.....to have no rules and just snap away.
The pictures I have seen are intriging and I wondered if anyone else has one.
I have not got a clue where to send the film for processing. One place on the net wanted £35 quid. Anyway anyone got one!

    Um yes. Once or twice.

You can develop B/W yourself without a darkroom, the kit would be less than £35 and you could do lots of rolls with it. Not sure how you'd go about scanning/printing.

Otherwise Peak Imaging have a good reputation.

Peak Imaging - http://www.peak-imaging.com/htmls/pap.htm - do 120 processing for less than £35, colour/mono neg and slide film.

If a makeshift darkroom can be arranged, it's fairly easy to make 6x6 contact prints without an enlarger, and the prints scanned. Doesn't have to be a huge space, just needs room for two lamps, three small trays and a bucket.

I use a Johnsons of Hendon contact frame (@ £3 from eBay) to make prints from my snapshot folders when I'm feeling authentic Smile

We have a Holga - tried it once, but the quality was a bit too good!

Any film processing place that handles medium format will do. The pro lab here does it for £1 40p per film for colour negative medium format, so £35 is a bit over the top...

I have a finished B&W film in my Holga that's been sitting there for 18 months because I have had no idea where to send it to get it developed.
I don't want to spend a lot because the photos are most probably really bad being my first time.
I have thought about using the bathroom as a makeshift darkroom but it's just buying all the equipment....I need a cheap & cheerful developer.

I've used printing Out Paper from retrophotographic, so its all daylight and no darkroom at all, just the POP and a bag of Hypo crsytals (aka fish tank dechlorinator). It helps to have a proper printing frame, small ones are cheap on ebay, but you can get away with a piece of picture glass.
However, the print is only 6cmx6cm, and the natural untoned colour is kind of pinkscale - shades from pale pink through to angry magenta. Gold chloride toning gives greyscale, but its a bit expensive.

    Coffee, mixed with washing soda.

Reading that again, I think you meant a cheap and cheerful person, rather than a bottle of chemicals.

Sorry pardon. Back in my box.

My local lab will develop B&W 120 film and put it onto a disc for £11.

Colour film is slightly cheaper. Im not sure but you might be able to get that kodak B&W film that uses colour processing in 120 format. Although I havent looked. You can also get 35mm adapters for the holga to if you search ebay.

It's become a bit of a cult camera. The Lomography site has plenty of info about them here.
Photos like those from Lensbabies, and Lomos are hit & miss but very good if you get the subject/composition right

I have a Holga, and also a Lomo Action Sampler... They are fantastic, low-tech and fun... The images aren't perfect, but that's what they are all about...

I have processed my own B&W film, just not scanned it yet, and have a few colour films to get developed.

You can't help but love the Holga.

I have a Lomo too and I love it, when you get everything in focus the photos are actually wonderful (took me a couple of years before that happened though lol)
I also have 2 of those multi lens ones too, the action sampler and I can't remember the other one....they are good fun with the kids.

Not got a Holga, but............Have a Kiev 60 and a full frame 30mm fisheye. I just can't seem to disengage it's floor magnet feature since I kn*ckered a few nerves in my back.

    Paul.
