I've seen quite a few photos on the site with frames around them and really like the effect. I'm still trying to come to grips with my new digital camera and Photoshop CS and despite searching for days around both, I can't find anything which tells me what to do. Am I looking in the wrong place?

There are lots of ways but this is what i do,

When you are happy with your photo goto layers click, save as background layer,

then goto image top second one in from the left, click,
in the drop down menu goto canvas size click that another box will appear were it say width and height change from cm to percent then where it says 0 change both boxes to lets say 5 click okay,

You should now have a white border around your photo,

Next goto the top and click on layers again,in the drop down menu you will see several options goto Layer style, another box will appear, goto drop shadow click,

Again another box will appear in it you will see three sliders and a dial like a clock, move the hand to lets say ten O'Clock now with your mouse goto the three sliders one is marked distance, slide it over slightly to the right as your doing so look at your photo you will see a drop shadow appear,

Now with the next two sliders just play with them you will see them alter the look of your drop shadow,as will the clock or angle as it is marked i think?,

Hope this makes sense,if you have a look at my portfolio it will give you some idea, hope this helps?.

I normally use the stroke method, which just gives a plain border around the edge. I prefer the effect you get Andy I think I will use this method in the future also a place to put the title and any copyright info.

Can anyone tell me how to get the copyright symbol (the circle with the C in the middle) I remember reading it somewhere but can't remember where?

    Cheers

    Phil
