How to treat a rude customer

16 Mar 2009 2:11PM
A crowded Malta-London flight was cancelled. She was the lone attendant in charge of re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS".
The attendant replied, "I'm sorry sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out." The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"
Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address microphone: May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please?" she began. With her voice being heard clearly throughout the terminal, she said, "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14."
With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the attendant, gritted his teeth and said, "F... You!" Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that too."

Its funny though how many urban myths become real.... Like the coke machine thief rocking the machine to get coke and it fell on and killed him... A Myth then it happened, thats how you see the warnings on them nowdays....

Nice story. Reminds me of what we used to say: it doesn't matter who you are, you're still a bag of bones.

When I first had to give presentations to the Directors of my company my then boss suggested that if I felt nervous I just remembered that they were all naked under their smart suits.

Even though I retired many years ago that comment helps to this day when meeting new people (and I still have a problem trying to control a fit of the giggles when I look at some "oh so terribly self-important people")

I work in retail and I deal with lots of rude people. I often find the best way to deal with them is to be extra nice to them in others words don't sink to their level.

Quick story for you. I working on a Friday night and these two young lads came and asked for me something. They were using a lot of swear words but weren't being abusive in anyway. One said to me sorry for the bad language. So I said 'That' alright but don't **** well don't do it again' Luckily for me they saw the funnny side and shook my hand. (No I'm not telling you where I work I'm that not stupid)
