    If you are unemployed ( and I think there are quite a few) you may be interested in the following.

    Having just been made redundant (well I took voluntary redundancy after the company offered lots of cash !!) I am now redundant/retired/unemployed Smile.

    As I was looking for casual/part time employment my brother in law directed me to this site:

    census jobs

    Basically there is a wide range of jobs available in most parts of England/Wales associated with the forthcoming census. Hourly rates ranging from £7 upwards. The website is well designed and self explanatory.

    Just thought it might be useful for anybody else who is retired/redundant/unemployed/part employed and wants to earn some extra cashWink

    ....y'mean they have to punt to get folk to do cushy jobs like that....what's the country coming to ?

    20 years ago people would have been falling over themselves to get one of those jobs.

    I did the census district manager role last time, god it was a pain in the *** the census was part collected and sorted by the royal mail BUT they couldnt have been bothered! so I had to do it a real **** up

    AND for the enumerators (they are called by a special name) IT WAS CUSHY a stroll in the sun! enjoy

    Has anyone who applied been accepted for any of this? I must confess, when faced with the three-part recruitment process, my eyes glazed over, and I completed the multiple-choice answers without reading the questions. Needless to say, I've just received confirmation that I "did not achieve the required minimum standard".

    Oh dear, how sad.

    Id did some work on traffic census back in my youth and it was a great job. So if you are between jobs at the moment go for it.

    RichBrew, dont beat yourself up, I used to do recruitment, and was a CENSUS district manger in 2001, this is census is going to be a mess (why? It was a king size screw up last time) I was part of a "what went rite / wrong" series of meetings, perhaps they know better than those on the ground last time, this process was managed by an ex TAX collector! who do you know?

    past experience and even skills in deciphering the mumbo jumbo of these graduate recruiters, seems not wanted?

    I decided to have some more holidays in spain during these 8 months, and forget it!

    cant we do it on-line, or get ebay to do it (cant trust FB!)

    I think I must live in the most job deprived place in the country, there is NOTHING here, not even census jobs.
