I used to do a fair amount of infrared photography with my film SLR and I'd like to see how far I can get with my Nikon D90. I understand that digi SLRs try to filter out IR wavelengths but some is getting through as shining my TV remote at the camera produces a bright blip.
As I don't want to have the camera permanently converted to IR, I figured it must be possible to get an IR-only transmissable filter for it which would, with a long exposure, get me at least something. Does anyone here have any experience of this technique and how well does it work? Also, what sort of price range are the filters?

Thanks for the links, those tutorials are excellent.
£25 is certainly within my price range, I shall go see what's out there.
