    Hi,

my Mum has given me a Centon FH 95 flash gun for my Canon EOS 30 but with no instruction leaflet. Can anyone tell me how to get the thing to work - it won't fire. It seems to need 2 lots of batteries (4 housed in the flash unit and 4 in the handle). Any help, tips, manuals (printed, photocopied, scanned or in PDF) would be welcome. I've never used an external flash unti before, so any comments will be gratefully received.

    Sam

I was hoping to avoid paying, but will pay for a manual if necessary

IIRC, the instruction manual stated that either 'C' sized batteries (in the grip) or 'AA' sized batteries (in the flashgun itself) should be used, not both types at the same time.

To make sure that the problem isn't with the grip; remove the flash from the grip (there is a button on the side of the flash, near the base), do the same with the dedication unit on the end of the grip's coiled cord, fit the dedication unit to the base of the flash. Fit 4 'AA' batteries in the flashgun and power on, once charged a lamp will glow, press the test button on the rear of the flash to see if it fires. If the flash does fire, fit it to your camera and see if it fires when the shutter is released.
