Hi ... it seems everyone I talk to uses PSP for their digital pics etc.

I have tried this many times and can not get into it. I dont like the look of it, layout or feel to it at all.

I much prefer ULEAD PHOTO IMPACT 8 , MICROSOFT PICTURE IT 2000 and MACROMEDIA FLASH.

Does any one else prefer anything other than PSP ... ?

    * Just curious if I am the ONLY person who doesnt like PSP *

I thought most used a version of Photoshop. I prefer to use Elements to PSP, just on the interfaces. I must try version 9 to see if it is better.

I find Photoshop does all I want. Only thing I've used in the past other than PS is Fireworks and that was only because Dreamweaver automates its webpage creater with their own package.

    so 2 for 2 then . lol
I just cant get into it. Think it is only me then ( blush ).

I use PS but have an ancient copy of PSP 3 which I use for quick editing (web graphics, rather than photos)

Elements 2 for me - haven't ever seen PSP so don't know how user friendly it is.

I've been using PaintshopPro for several years, first shareware, and now PSP7. My sister and a couple of colleagues also use it. It is indeed time to look at 9.
I do have copy of Photoshop elements though, and started trying it recently, so who knows.
I think a lot of people use both, as each has strengths and weaknesses.

In my opinion it doesn't matter what techniques you use, it's the finished image that counts. No one product is any better or worse than any other. It's horses for coarses. Whatever suits you is the best product for you.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 since it was launched, but since starting an e-book course on Elements 2, 3 and photoshop 7 and CS this fall, definitly getting CS. Never used PSP.

I use Photoshop for most things, but prefer Paintshop for adding simple borders and text to pics. Photoshop takes a bit of getting your head round, but it's definitely worth it!

    Hi Pinkpixel

If you think everyone uses PSP why do all the digital magazines cater mainly for Photoshop?

Many people do prefer PSP because of the price difference. It will do almost everything Photoshop does but at a sixth of the price.

But at the end of the day it's whether the software you use fits your needs. You don't have to spend 600, 60 or even 6 if a freeware graphics package does all you want.

(Oh, and by the way, yes I do use PSP.)

You're talking to the wrong people! Wink
Photoshop for me, still with PS7 though. I can manage fine without CS, an upgrade I think I'll give a miss.

The thing with photoshop is getting to grips with it, there are thousands of tutorial sites on the internet to get started.

This is a good one i use a lot, as i am also a beginner

    http://www.good-tutorials.com/new

Photoshop is very powerfull, its main use is digital image manipulation and you can do pictures from scratch, a lot if not most magazines use it for there cover art work.
Just look at magazine covers specially those dedicated to photoshop to see what the programme can do, even the tutorial site above will show you some examples.

A lot of people use it for digital photo work as a lot of tasks are automated, or very easy to change, but for normal simple tasks it can be a bit over the top.

Just look at the tutorial sites to see what can be done with it, and remember it is not just a photo contrast adjustment tool but a very powerfull graphics aplication.

Oh i was just meant to say i use photoshop cs, and now i have learnt it a bit i love it, specially for forum signatures etc
