Interesting - looks like a quality offering.
Their comparison to other cameras needs some explanation though. It would be interesting to see how they arrive at their rankings.

1700 dollars estimated street price. that means I would have to sell my 5D to have a camera with a swivelscreen Sad
Let's wait and see for the Panasonic

I guess the Nikon D3's AF system will be really slow when used with that lens Wink
$1700 doesn't sound bad for a pro spec body.

Looked at the blurb and press release. Mostly launch hype though there may be some good innovations (but I question the claim to blur free images as presented).

It's 10mp camera which will only interest Olympus users unless the price comes below the Nikon and Canon offerings.

At just under £1100 for the body, it will hold its own Smile

The E3 has some nifty secrets up it's digital sleeve...

For instance I will be VERY interested in it's improved methods of metering & AWB (a previous weakness on the 410/510/330 - it seemed - in specific circumstances). If my info is correct, the sensor is a Panasonic one - net 10.1MP (gross = 11MP+ where did that, in excess, of 1MP go?) but it's what Oly have done to improve their pre-capture that is most interesting). The processing engine is now very good.

A swivelly screen is unique, but the 'as standard' body sealing, radio flash control etc are all similar to the competition e.g. Pentax K10 @ a street price of £450.

The RAW results should be level par with the 40D/D300, so I'm told...but the Oly lenses might just give it an edge...

I spotted ESP as an option... well I had that on my OM40 many many years ago, at least 20.

Looks promising, but is it worth buying before all the RAW Converter software applications support it ?

The ESP has always been there nothing new.

Lol thats really no different to what Canon/nikon or anyone else does when they bring out something new.

If the sealing is as good as on the E1, and mine went for a swim in the Thames and suvived, then I will be happy. Its unlikely the Pentax will be quite up to the same level in sealing.

Had a quick look through the menu`s, there`s some kind of shaddow thingy, that I don`t Know a great deal about that but it does look interesting.

Yes, but not me, got to save my Pennies first and I`ll probally get the body only to start with.

The new 12-60 lens, will I need it. Its going to focus faster, no doubt about that, but I already have that range covered and I`m not really a speed junkie. Smile

The wireless flash is a step up, though I`m still happy with my old t20 and 32 Smile

We`ll just have to wait and see what the reviews have to say. Its a lot of camera for its price.

    And new promo video

Think I`m already sold on it Smile

Come on Pete the K10D release price was near enough £650 body only 14 months ago, and its dropped a third since then so give it 14 months and you will be looking at a price of £700 to £800 and with magnesium body compared to plastic and 100% vewfinder compared to 95% and a few other things as well then the comparable values will look pretty good Wink

So Olympus launch a new "flagship" model and presumably want people to buy it.

I go to their UK website for detailed info and they cannot even be bothered to make either the Brochure or the Manual available for viewing / downloading.

"Sorry no documents available for this product" .. or similar wording.

    Not a good start Sad
