Success.... hmmm....

It's changed a bit since it became the day job Wink

Satisfaction of knowing you've done a good job - personal or commercial

Exceeding client's expectations is great - meeting them afterwards and having them go on and on about how the photos you did for them have "helped" (in what ever way that is) them, you just don't get that writing computer programs (my old career by the way)

When people are as enthusiastic at the end of a shoot as they were when you started means you've succeeded in keeping them engaged - however you go about that.

Winning new work based on your portfolio - you then know you're doing something right

Getting a random phone call saying "Hi, I need some photos doing and you've been recommended by...... "
