When Jessops ditch brands and product lines, then customers ditch Jessops.
In the past no trip to a town would be complete without a visit to Jessops. Now since they stopped 2nd Hand and also dropped Pentax, I don't even bother to look in the window.

Take care it is not Pentax dropping Jessops as has been mentioned. Speaking to a local camera dealer I know he stated that both Canon and Nikon were tightening the financial contracts with dealers, i.e less credit, they need to pull in an ever increasing minimum level of sales and fewer days to turn the cash around.

It could be Pentax did not offer terms Jessops could live with, i.e cash up front.

True but it seems an odd move from Pentax. Whilst Jessopes are not doing as well as they once were they still command most of the highstreet spots with their camera shops and by buying up other independants in the early days it did mean that there was less competition around. It would seem daft for Pentax to cut itself out the market so completly in the UK at the least

Looking at the specifications of the latest Pentax models, I doubt they will need Jessops to sell them.....!!!

The spec and biuld quality, Combined with a very attractive price point will do that for them .......Smile

If I was not already commited to a particular brand, I would be looking very closely at the Pentax range.....Wink

Well, Jessops stopped selling film cameras, and don't do secondhand any more. If they are dropping complete makes of camera one wonders what will be left.
I think all High Street stores are feeling the draught from Amazon & E-Bay.

I believe that some while ago they stopped selling Sigma lenses?

A few years ago Jessops were making a mint when all the snapshotters, were ditching film and buying digital. Now these people have all got their little digis, and Jessops who turned away from the keen amateur photoraphers , are suffering.
I am just sorry for their staff.
It was bad decisions at director level that wrecked the business.
