Calling all Junior members of ePhotozine (and their parents).

After a few months' break, we bring you The Return of the Junior Competition! Entry is exclusive to members of the Junior Group. If you haven't already joined the Group, check your Private Messages to find out how. Could I possibly ask parents of Juniors to give a suitable nudge, if their kids haven't logged on to EPZ in a while.

Full details - including of the theme, prizes and how to enter - are on the private forum of the Junior Group. All competition photos must be uploaded to the Group photo gallery.

Karen, James and I (the Junior Gallery Team) look forward to seeing and assessing your pictures. Smile

If there are any queries, don't be afraid to ask - either here or in the Junior Group section! Smile

Is not a shame that these details are now going to be kept Private ?

Does this also mean that the General epz membership will not see the entries, even after the judging, as presumably you will have to be a member of the Group to see it's Gallery ?

As the competition is only for Group members.................. no. Smile

Rather a strange and negative attitude to take, but there you go.

The junior competition themes and prizes have been quite good in the past so if you want now want to keep that Private I think it is rather sad.

Not at all. The competition is means to an end rather than an end in itself.

In recent times the number of uploads of photos by Juniors has dropped off, drastically. We have put that down, principally, to the existence of Facebook and other social networking sites. We suspect many young people, and even not so young ones, would rather post to their own FB pages where every single photo uploaded, however good, mediocre or appalling, is treated by their (virtual) friends as a thing of wondrous beauty. Grin

So, at Pete's suggestion, we are trying to build a community of Juniors within EPZ, using the Groups facility and entry to the Junior Group is by invite only - similar to inviting a 'friend' on FB. The competition is just one experimental step in that direction. If it works, well and good. If not, we ditch it.

Hope that helps to explain what we are trying to achieve. Smile
