Easyjet and Ryanair are the cheapest carriers - just means you leave the underwear at home to allow for camera gear.
Loads of accomodation - just beware some descripions of the numbes a place can sleep can be fairly loose (sleeps 5 can sometimes mean 1x small double and a King size sleeping 3) ....... check the pictures.

The English version of the PhotoMonth website has not been updated yet but the Polish version translates in Google, (rather approximately !!) as:-

Quote:"Memory Processed" is the principal theme and the Czech Republic the special guest country of the festival - to see the Festival Month of Photography in Krakow in 2009. For the lectures, projections, slide shows, reviews of the portfolio, workshops. This unusual - even on a global scale - Visual Arts Foundation's projects, Imago Mundi Foundation and the city of Krakow simply can not miss.

It is planned to hold 50 individual and collective exhibitions selected by an international program made up of the Council of eminent authority of the photograph. As usual, the exhibition will be held simultaneously in some forty - both conventional and unconventional - exhibition spaces: museums, galleries, Gallery Clubs , as well as in public spaces the city of Krakow.

A unique idea to exhibition - in the public awareness of the global merging integrally Krakow festival - is adapted to display the photos in, intimate spaces of empty apartments in the city center.

This year, the unusual nature of the exhibition will be entered circulating around the festival theme - part of the program układanej by the curators - "Remembrance processed." More than a dozen art projects will create about wielogłos function, role and specificity of the archive in contemporary culture and visual.

On the one hand, the organizers will present the archives in their original context - as a collection of elements arranged according to established criteria (such as Poland and records - yet - Czechoslovak secret service) and that as a starting point to redefine the concept of contemporary culture - a set of reference and inspiration, and while the media tradition and history.

In this section we will also be exhibitions of individual artists, for which the archive is the creative material.

Theme of the festival includes a look at the issue of the archives of the artists in the country - Special festival hotel, or the Czech Republic. Traditionally, the second part of the Month of Photography in Krakow is a comprehensive presentation of the achievements, but an attempt to grasp the current condition of photographs from one selected country. The Czech Republic world opinion - and our close neighbors geographically and mentally - to a country with a rich inheritance photography, home of many widely recognized masters of photography. The Czech focuses primarily on photography and contemporary art and will consist of presentations on the individual and collective, from classics by artists in the most fashionable middle generation, until the achievement of the youngest group of Czech photographers.

Consistent project will complement the diverse educational program: screenings of documentaries, meeting with curators and artists, multiedialna to present the history of Czech photography and many others.

As every year, the main thoughts behind the scenes Month of Photography in Krakow put on a presentation of photographs as a fully-fledged field of contemporary art and as an ideal tool to allow the construction of a coherent expression of contemporary culture.

Space "free from curators, more free and is extremely diverse OFF Program - an informal part of the festival, which presented proposals are received from all over the world to the organizers.

From year to year becomes more and more prestigious opportunity to debut a wide range of viewers before the festival. As every year, and in 2009, the festival will be a full program of events to accompany: review of the portfolio, workshops, lectures, presentations, meetings with artists and curators, film projections, slide shows - all that the audience appreciates the Month of Photography.

Welcome to Krakow in May 2009!

If people are unsure of what to expect in Krakow, and I certainly was before my first visit, I believed every stererotype you can imagine.

I have some photographs, which may be of some interest as a pictorial guide to Krakow including pics of exhibitions and venues from a previous photomonth here
