Hey all im new to this game and was always a point and shoot man. I've decided to try and better my shots by using photoshop. Im trying to get my head arond layers but just cant get it. I've watched Barry Beckhams tutorial on layers on epz.tv and have a grasp on the concept. I am trying to add the sky from one picture to the foreground of another but i just cant seem to do it. Is this even possible and if so how do I achieve it? If its any help its the picture named 'spillage' in my gallery i am using. Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. CS3 is the software I have access to.
    Thanks
    Rory

It should be possible. There are several ways of doing this. Firstly you need to select the sky that you want to transpose, make a copy then drag and drop into the new pic. From there there are several methods such as using background eraser available. Careful blending is the key to successful merging of 2 pics and in my opinion it is not something that can be taught in a few easy steps. Good luck and have fun playing with PS.

Try this tutorial from ephotozine tv. Ignore the reflection bit of the lesson.

I found this, which is better than the previous tutorial I mentioned. This is by Gavin Hoey who you'll find in Digital Camera magazine tutorials and this works for most versions of Photoshop :-

There are various other ways of replacing the sky depending on the photo itself and the effect you are trying to create. Try putting this into a search engine such as google :- ' Photoshop sky replacement video'

Hope you find what you are looking for.

    Regards,

    John
