I've got a Lee Filters holder and some ND grads. I've just bought a Sigma 18-270mm lens, so thought I'd get an adapter ring to fit the filter holder onto it. The thread on the lens is 66mm, and Lee don't appear to offer that size - the nearest is 67mm. Does anybody know of an alternative brand that would fit, or is there another way of solving this problem? Thanks.
Do you mean the Tamron 18-270? This has a 62mm thread (as far as i know), while the Sigma 18-250 has a 72mm. Havent heard of a Sigma 18-270mm, and 66mm is a very strange thread size. Have you received the lens yet?
Can't find reference to a Sigma 18-270, only an 18-250, which has a 72mm filter thread. Tamron do an18-270 which also has 72mm filters and Pentax, which is 62mm.
Can you confirm the lens, because I'm sure no manufacturer would use a filter size that wasn't one of the standard sizes?
Nick
Thank you both for your time in replying to what proved to be a rather stupid post - I was clearly having a dim moment!!!
It is Tamron not Sigma, and I completely misread the filter size which is, as you say, 62mm.
Thank you for pointing this out - I will now go ahead & order the correct adapter ring.
Judith
Dont buy standard ring, best buy is wideangle ring cheers
Sorry for not reply, yes wide angle will fit the holder if ring and holder of same product e.g Lee. Hitech filters are very good and cheaper, I have some hitech and Lee. But Lee is much better quality.
Thing is Hitech have 1.5 ND or 3.0ND I think Lee dont have. Big Stopper by Lee is brilliant then Hitech due to more blue cast. hope all helps
