Actually, heres a test I was taught when I used to shoot. Close one eye and aim your finger at an object in the distance. Then open your other eye without moving your finger and if you are still aiming correctly at the object then thats your dominant eye. If, however, your aim has moved then its not.
Left for me with both eyes open. Right handed and footed.
Quote: in which a photographer was surprised to discover that most other photographers use their camera when taking photos while she uses her left eye.
Neat trick if you can do it..
Right and left eye open.
Kris.
Left for me - but I think that's because I can only actually wink with my right eye. I can't close my left eye and keep my right eye open at all!
I've never thought about it before and never realised that I was in the minority. I'm going to start watching other people and see what they do now!
Right eye. My left is not much use, even with glasses.
I do open the left eye sometimes for a look round, especially with fast moving subjects, like a horse race or railway track. Even then I tend to close it at the last moment and concentrate on the viewfinder.
Left here. Same technique (ie, keep both eyes open) is used when shooting but if you do that, you have to aim with your strongest eye. This used to cause a problem when I was heavily into archery and pistol shooting, being right handed and left eyed. Means that in archery you can't look down the arrow properly, and when shooting a pistol, I have to hang my head to the right.
Judging by the responses so far, I am in a minority.
