I'm another leftie, but right handed. I always thought I was on my own and everyone else used their right eye. Now I know they're others out there like me, I'm not on my own.

I'm unsure how many of you, that contributed to this post, are still alive, but I've been pondering this issue for weeks.
I'm right handed and left eyed, so hold the camera to the left of my face....it makes it difficult to use the AE-L button, but that's about it.

I am trying to train my self to use the right eye, so I can shoot both eyed, but it's proving quite difficult.

However, as a result of my leftism, I found that I by adoption a boxer-like stance, I can rest my camera on my left shoulder and squeeze off quite stabilised shots!

As far as I'm aware we are mostly one eyed or the other. If you use a rifle you will generally tend towards one or the other too. Try a little experiment. Close one eye, Hold your index finger at arms length and cover a point in the distance with it. Now without moving your finger open the first eye and close the other. If your finger no longer covers the object then the eye you closed first is your aiming eye. Now do it again, with your aiming eye open then open both eyes without moving your finger. Your finger should still cover the object.

I think it's largely because cameras are designed for right handers and that puts the camera over the right eye.
I can shoot with either eye, though with a 0.5d difference between them I can't assess focus properly.
I have the camera set for right eye, and if necessary can shoot with the left.
I also shoot with the camera upside down occasionally to get an extra inch or two height (being vertically challenged) using the portrait grip shutter release left handed while the camera is in inverted landscape mode.

Both, I use my right when using an slr but my left when using my compact which has the viewfinder on the far right. Wink
