Nick, the law seems to have got many things backwards. Caveat emptor no longer seems to apply when a dispute gets to Small Claims Court.
The major professional associations have been very, very careful to draft a standard contract that is both crystal clear and scrupulously fair, approved by the OFT. Even so, colleagues who use the contract have had it set aside by a Judge who's over-protective of the consumer.
If our MPs can lie, cheat and fiddle their expenses with impunity, why shouldn't the punter be able to do the same?
