I have just been surfing trying to find the best deal on Lightroom 4.

The best offer appears to be from Camera World at 68 free P&P

This is much better than Adobe's, even with 33% off.

Anybody had experiences buying from Camera World to give the thumbs up?

    Thanks

    John

Just note that the release of LR 5 is due soon.

If they are the same as Abode, you will get a free upgrade if you buy software within a few months of a new version being brought out!

LR5 may not be out until 2014 according to some info I saw on some sites? - So may be worth it - but you need to check

I have used Camera World, they're ok. They are a regular at Focus. I haven't bought a lot, but then I've not bought a lot recently in any case.

So you may not get a free upgrade Smile

Having said that, the price you're offered looks good and LR4 (latest version LR4.4, so you may be prompted to download this after installing say 4.3 if that's what is on the disc - I guess you'll be sent a disc, but beware these updates are almost 800 MB so I hope your broadband is ok Smile) is fine so no way are you wasting money.

Thanks for the info, I did notice that there was Version 5 in the pipeline.

In fact I'm a bit miffed with Adobe on there speed of introducing new versions.

I bought Elements 9 and in what seemed like only a couple of months later Version 10 followed, but the 'upgrade' price wasn't much less than the Full version!

Does anyone know if there is a specific 'window' between buying one version and the next one being launched when the upgrade should be free?

Also how long has Version 4 been around? I had a trial version of 3 and it didn't seem that long ago!

    Thanks again

    John

    Whoooa!

I've just noticed (in small print in a colour not much darker than than the page) "Offer only valid when spending over 100)

So I won't be taking up their offer!

    Sorry for wasting your time

    Cheers

All to do raising as much money as you can, the faster and the more people buy the faster the new versions appear, When I learn all the stuff in LR4 point whatever then I will think about 5.
As however I do not yet see me getting to that point below the age of 100yrs, Adobe might have to wait for my brass a little longer.

The last update to LR 3 was LR 3.6 on 13th December 2011

    LR 4.0 was released 9th May 2012

LR 5.0 due to be released June / July 2013.

    Result!

I had a go at Cameraworld because I felt that they were a bit sneaky 'hiding' the fact that this offer was only available if 100 or more was already being spent.

To their credit they have apologized, for any misunderstanding and will get there web team to make the offer more obvious, plus, they will allow me to purchase at the 'dea' price.

    So I'm back on!!

In all probability I'll go for it.

    Thanks for your responces

    John
