Hi, just wondering, if I download a trial of Lightroom 4 will it sit separately to Lightroom 3 on my iMac? I'd like to have a play but am worried that I may not get on with it and in the process upset version 3!
    Many thanks, Jude

It's not a problem, they sit separately, but I'm confident you will like it.

Believe me.... you will get on with it Wink

The new controls in the Develop Module i.e. "Basic" will take some learning as they work differently than those in LR 3 but once you get used to it the results are so much better.

I am not sure if the trial of LR 4 sits separately from LR 3 as I just went ahead and updated without "trialling".

    BUT
Back up LR 3 and any LR 3 catalogues etc. which gives you something to go back to ...... but I am sure you will not !

One thing to bear in mind is that the Process version has been updated which automatically gets applied to new images but for older ones already processed there is an option to stick with LR 3 or upgrade to LR 4.
It is best to do this on on an image by image basis as and when required and NOT to update the whole catalogue in one go.

Many thanks to both, I can go ahead with confidence now!

I've heard said it's a bit slow, but I can put up with that.

On my i5 machine with 6gb it takes a few seconds longer than LR3 to load, but once there I don't notice any difference.
