What you actually have in the above post is as follows:

{link=http://]http://www.ephotozine.com/topic/t-58176[/link}
(The curly brackets I've put in to stop it trying to be a link)

How it should look is:
{link=http://www.ephotozine.com/topic/t-58176]http://www.ephotozine.com/topic/t-58176[/link}

Then you get:

It's easy enough Bev.
At one time there wasn't a link button at all and we managed.

All you need to do to make a link by hand is as follows:

Start with a square bracket [
Then link=
Then the URL http://etc
Then a closing square bracket ]
Then the text you want to display as the link to click
Then another square bracket [
Then /link
and finally the closing square bracket ]

So you should end up with something like this:
[ link=http//www.somesite.com]click this link[/link ]

Note - I have added spaces after the opening bracket and before the closing bracket to stop it being a link.

Easy huh?

You lost me completely, I'm gonna print it off and digest (not literally!) over the next few days and practice, practice, practice and see if I can remember ...

Bev - a little cheat for you..........

Open a comment box like this....insert the link like you would normally, then rather than adding the comment, copy and past the whole thing back into your gallery text Smile

See example below (I have substituted the first [ with a ( to show what I mean....
