...Well its been better than the Diana gig.
REALLY annoyed tho', the BBC cut short Metallica - a band who probably have sold more albums and tickets than any other band appearing at Wembley (they are headlining there tomorrow). I was really looking forward to seeing them destroying Wembley. Instead, we had to watch Crowded House.
What's the bet that Spinal Tap will (hopefully) die on stage?
Chillis were good though...

LIVID! - Both Ben and I...
How many times do we get to see Matallica on TV BBC??? OK - YOU 'Mr Producer' might not be enamoured of the genre BUT...

Ahh but you did get James Blunt - so it all works out in the end ![]()
Wonder how much power is and has been used staging this event, with all the flights for the acts and lorry loads of gear that are delivered to the event.
But then they either drive an electric car or say they are getting one, so that will offset it all and they can preach to us all they want.
It just makes me wonder why I bother to recycle, change all the bulbs at home for low energy ones, use the car less, turn the heating down, use a low temp on the washing machine.... anyone else feel like this or is it just me?
Rant over
Yes that's another gripe, we all have to recycle everything but what about the local authorities? why ship all the waste paper, plastic, metal all to China? because most of it leaves the country via Felixstowe! and that is where it ends up only to shipped back here as a something green and organic! think of all the road and sea miles consumed by this!!

Well I suppose it depends how many people it makes join you in the energy efficiency, recycling, etc that wouldn't have otherwise.
For me their is always time for a bit of a knees up and I've spent a fair bit my life with the weather we are supposed to have so if we have a change from now on I don't mind ![]()

When the Council replace all the bus layby's so that 30 or 40 cars (all ticking over) are not blocked by one bus.
When the Highways dept puts decent length slip roads at junctions so vehicles can flow freely.
When they reinstate two lanes on all the roads they have reduced to one and a bus lane.
When they alter traffic light timing so cars can flow freely through two or three sets of lights.
When etc etc etc.
Then and only then will I think about recycling and cutting down emissions.

So Rod what you are saying is that until someone pulls of the impossible you will carry on being a selfish SOB
I watched it for 5 minutes and then started shouting at the TV. There is some very significant evidence to show that the current warming has nothing to do with CO2, but is actually part of the wider cosmos.
It annoys the hell out of me that humans have this huge ego and think that they, and they alone, can drive and control the events of the world.
The very fact that the Earth depends on the Sun and whatever mood the Sun is in will impact how the Earth responds seems to escape everyone. Add to that the fact we're travelling through the Milky Way and sectors of that can have a huge impact on the climate, and any humble person would realise that we're not in control of what's taking place.
For a world that is supposedly warming up via CO2, please explain why Antartica is cooling down? CO2 is a gas and gasses go into the atmosphere and evenly circle the earth. They don't clump together to create hotspots - they just spread out. So if CO2 was causing global warming then Anatartica would be melting, but it isn't. So something else has to be causing the earth to heat up.
Unfortunately, for environmentalists, the answer doesn't help their cause for us to stop raping and polluting the planet. It's the common and garden cloud (low level cloud - about 3000 metres high) that's causing the warming/cooling, but it's the Earth's position in the Milky Way (we are on a perpetual journy around the Milky Way) that impacts the amount of cloud cover around the earth. Extremely high energy particles (from supernova stars) have enough energy to break through the Sun's magnetic field (it protects us as well as providing central heating), and just laughs at the Earth's magnetic field. These particles make it through to the lower atmosphere and then help the conception of clouds...after all, water vapour needs something to act as the catalyst for it to start to condense.
More cloud = cooler earth. Less cloud = warmer earth. An energetic sun (magnetically energetic) = less cosmic particles and so less cloud = warmer. A lazy sun (lower magnetic energy) = more cosmic particles and so more cloud = cooler.
So we've warmed up in the last 100 years? Not the first time in history that the earth has warmed/cooled over such a short period of time. After all, if the Sun's feeling lazy and her magnetic field is weak then we're more exposed to cosmic particles = more cloud formation = cooler earth. And vice versa.
The "accepted" theory of climate change has a hugely complex explanation for the Antartic being cold, involving ocean currents, climate, the fact the day ends in a Y, etc, etc. Any scientist (worth their salt) would know that the more complex the theory to explain the annomally then the more likely the theory is wrong. Occam's Razor, or KISS, is what's strived for in science - cooling/warming of the planet by the clouds (via the amount of cosmic particles) explains our current environment, including Antartica.
One other thing about scientists who buy the CO2 theory, they can't agree on just how much the earth will warm by; 1 degree through to 6 degrees, although an average is about 3 -4 degrees. Sorry, but for people who are so sure that the earth is warming via CO2 (because their models prove this to be true) then why can't they all come up with a temperature increase that is within a small range?
So I don't believe CO2 is the global warming agent, but I do agree that we should be cleaner and more economical with our use of natural resources, but I do object to the constant bandwagon of CO2 as the cause of all things.
Let's not forget that in the cycle of the earth it is still coming out of the last ice age.
We have been around a short time the earth has been here just a few thousand years longer than we have. In all that time it has gone in cycles for milleniums of warming then cooling.
There has been cases of scientists who were asked for their theories and gave one of it's nothing to worry about, etc. Their names have then falsely been put on the theory of warming that is now used, a few have started taking things along the legal trail to get their names removed.
The same in that the models that westers mentioned have at the same time been ridiculed by scientists as the data is falsified to give a more dramatic picture.
I try never to waste energy but as mentioned look at all the stars on the concerts, who fly all over the world and put on concerts using more power in a few hours than a small town / city does all day.
They then try to tell us not to waste energy...............
