I think you will like it Chris, The G`s are not really my thing but I own a G2 and to be honest I can`t fault them.

Touch screen are really useful, you will be surprised.

I would check out LCE as well, there selling x demo G5 kits for 349, and these usually go with a full warranty, so you could still claim the free lens.

I've not used DNG before. Is it a stand-alone program? Can I just use that for one camera and still use ACR with E10 and CS4? Or will it take over from other programs?

DNG is a format, like Tiff, Jpeg etc

From DNG you can convert to any format you wish, those mentioned above or BMP etc, I shoot DNG all the time now, is more a universal RAW than camera manufacturers

Thanks, but I meant that if you use DNG, can you still use ACR. It won't take over as default converter.

Yes it still uses ACR, nothing changes in that respect.

The DNG converter is just a simple little converter that runs without the need of an install.

I've just downloaded it but can't seem to open any files in it. Nothing's showing up in the preview boxes. No thumbnails. I'm trying to open a CR2 (Canon) raw file.

(Sorry to the OP. This has gone slightly off topic. Again. Grin)

Chris open the preferences box and select a camera Raw level that is compatible with your Raw files, I believe it sets the most recent by default, it supports 2.4 and onwards.

I've already tried that Paul. I go to Select Folder but there's nothing there.

Canon 60D, 400D, C100, G11
Oh, and when I change a Preference, it doesn't remember it. It goes back to 7.1 again. I downloaded the 8.1 version though, the latest.
Every other plug in etc. I've downloaded it's worked perfectly, i.e. Noiseware, Virtual Photographer, etc.
