I have a Nikon D300 with a MB-D10 permanantly attached and have just bought the above item and had intended buying a Manfrotto 234 head but have read that this head is no good when trying to use with the battery grip.
    My main lens is the 18-200 but I also use a 17-55 2.8 and 70-200 2.8..
Can anyone confirm the 234 is no good for the equipment I use and if so, can you suggest another head please.
    Thanks very much.

It's probably just ok for your setup (rated at 2.5kg load) but may struggle to hold the 70-200.This is a bit more pricy but would do the job.

This thing is amazing robust, and is what I use with this exact combination. Never had an ounce of trouble.
I use arca-comatible Giottos plates with mine, just gives a bit more grip, particularly with the longer lens.
