    The Independent newspaper web site has a great article in their science section today (22/06/2009) about the use of a super-powerful camera, mounted on the NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, to take spectacular landscape shots of the Martian surface. The photographs are amazing and awesome to look at, and certainly bring a cosmic angle to landscape photography.

    I wonder what wide-angle lens and filter set they use!?

    I know its wikipedia, but its actually correct!

    Thanks for the link Nigey. HiRise is an brilliant bit of kit. Especially it's resolution - topographically accurate to 25cm!

    They have actually used the camera to image the landing sites of the Spirit and Opportunity rovers, and to llok for the failed British Beagle probe (don't know if they found it though).
